BPS Downtown Better Enforcement Action Team Arrest and Charge 39-year-old Female After Daytime Robbery of Senior Citizen

Officers with the Brantford Police Service have arrested a woman believed responsible for the daytime robbery of a senior citizen.
On November 7, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., on a walking bridge near Brant’s Crossing located at 2 Icomm Drive, the accused is alleged to have approached the senior citizen with her face concealed, and using force, robbed her of her personal belongings (purse and shoes). The accused is then reported to have thrown the victim’s walker into the Grand River to prevent her from departing the location.
Members of the Brantford Police Service Downtown Better Enforcement Action Team quickly arrived on scene where they located and arrested the accused. The accused was found to be in violation of four valid Probation Orders and provided false names to police in an attempt to obstruct the investigation.
The victim was transported by ambulance to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Disguise with Intent
- Robbery
- Possession of Stolen Goods Under $5,000
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
- Obstruct a Peace Officer
- Probation Order – Non-Compliance x 4
The accused was held for bail.
Brantford police seek to identify suspects in butter theft

Brantford police are investigating a retail theft and are seeking information from the public to identify two suspects who fled the scene.
On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at approximately 8:25 p.m., two men were observed stealing a large amount of butter from a grocery store located at Lynden Road and Wayne Gretzky Parkway. The stolen butter was valued at approximately $1200. The suspects were observed wearing all black clothing, black baseball hats and fled the scene in a white van.

BPS Drug and Firearm Enforcement Unit seize over $690,000 in illicit drugs and arrest three Brantford residents for trafficking

In September 2024, the Brantford Police Service Drug and firearm Enforcement Unit launched a drug investigation, involving a suspected drug dealer engaged in trafficking fentanyl within the City of Brantford.
On October 29, 2024, with the assistance of the BPS Emergency Response Team and K-9 Unit, two search warrants were conducted at residences located on Henry Street and Charing Cross Street in Brantford.
A large quantity of Canadian Currency, drug manufacturing tools and materials were located along with the following illicit drugs:
- Approximately 3,104.4 grams of suspected fentanyl
- Approximately 320.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine
- Approximately 86.6 grams of suspected cocaine
- 1,211 suspected hydromorphone pills
This seizure of fentanyl represents the largest amount to date obtained as a result of a Brantford Police Service investigation. The estimated street value of the drugs seized totals $692,675 when trafficked at the drug user level.
As a result of this investigation, three residents of Brantford, a 37-year-old man, a 24-year-old female and a 26-year-old male, were arrested and each stand charged with four counts of Possession for the Purpose of trafficking.

6.3kg of cocaine taken off the streets after joint investigation with Brantford Police Service
(October 21, 2024, Hamilton-Niagara, Ontario) The Brantford Police Service, in collaboration with RCMP Hamilton-Niagara Regional Detachment, executed search warrants at five southwestern Ontario locations resulting in three individuals from Brantford being charged.
The searches uncovered 6.3kg of cocaine, with a street value of $170,000 and approximately $2,000,000 in Canadian currency, which has been seized as suspected proceeds of crime.
A number of electronic communications devices were also seized. Additional arrests and charges may follow.
Three individuals are facing charges:
- 36-year-old man from Brantford - Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
- 23-year-old man from Brantford - Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
- 24-year-old man from Brantford - Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
The individuals are scheduled to appear in Brantford Court on December 19, 2024.
The success of this investigation was made possible through funding provided by the Ontario Government, Ministry of the Solicitor General in which the Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario (CISO) supported this joint force investigation.
We would also like to thank the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC), Canada's financial intelligence unit, for its vital role in supporting this investigation. Disclosures from FINTRAC helped uncover evidence of alleged money laundering and proceeds of crime by tracing financial transactions and identifying patterns. FINTRAC's collaboration with the RCMP facilitated the understanding of the complex financial networks involved. The investigation's outcome underscores the importance of interagency cooperation in combating organized crime.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, between 10:30 p.m., and 1:30 a.m., a female was sexually assaulted by two different individuals at two separate times while in the downtown core.
The suspects have been described to police as follows:
Suspect #1:
Brown male, approximately 26-years-old, stocky build, with spiked dark hair, wearing blue shorts, black sandals, a floral shirt, and hoop earrings in each ear.
Suspect #2:
Black male, approximately 30-years-old, narrow v-shaped face, stubble on chin, short, buzzed hair, wearing dark coloured pants, black shoes, blue "Crooks & Castle” t-shirt.

SIU Invokes Mandate after Barricaded Man Incident

Members of the Brantford Police Service arrested a 51-year-old man from Brantford on October 15, 2024, after receiving a report of a disturbance at a residential building located at Brant Avenue near Henrietta Street.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. officers attended the residence when the man barricaded himself within the building, refusing to surrender to police.
Brantford police Emergency Response Team, negotiators, the Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team (MCRRT) responded in an effort to safely resolve the situation.
After an interaction with police, the male was taken into custody at approximately 6:40 p.m. and stands charged with the offences of Utter Threats and Assault with Weapon.
No injuries to the public or police occurred as a result of the incident.
As a result of interaction with officers, the Brantford Police Service have notified the province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. As such, Brantford Police Service will be unable to provide further information or comment related to the incident.

The Brantford Police Service are seeking information from the public in order to identify the rider of a motorcycle involved in stunt driving. The rider was observed standing on his motorcycle while in motion on several occasions and has also exhibited other aggressive driving behaviour.

37-year-old Female Charged with 2nd Degree Murder

Brantford police have arrested and charged a 37-year-old female with 2nd degree murder.
On Saturday, September 28, 2024, at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a Colborne Street residence after receiving a report of an injured male.
Officers attended the residence and located the victim, who was suffering from stab wounds. The male was transported to hospital. Despite the life-saving measures performed, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
The accused was on scene and taken into custody by officers without incident.
The accused and the victim were known to each other. This incident has been classified as an Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) related homicide. No threat to public safety exists as a result of this incident.
As a result, a 37-year-old female resident of Brantford stands charged with one count of 2nd Degree Murder, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was held for bail.
What is Intimate Partner Violence?
Intimate partner violence (IPV) is any behaviour within an intimate relationship that causes physical, psychological, or sexual harm to those in the relationship.
An intimate relationship can be defined as legally married, separated, or divorced partners, current or former common-law or dating partners. It can occur in either heterosexual or same-sex relationships. It is very difficult for victims to disclose, often due to fear of criticism or alienation from family, or a lack of confidence in the ability of community agencies to provide services. It is suspected that IPV for males, LGBTQI, Indigenous and visible minorities is even more underreported. Victim Services of Brant provides support to anyone affected by crime and tragic events.
IPV is not limited to actions that meet criminal code definitions, for example: financial abuse, isolation from family or friends or monitoring cell phone and social media accounts.

In Ontario there is a domestic or sexual violence job-protected leave of absence.
