As a result of two separate and unrelated investigations launched by the Brantford Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE), a 55-year-old Brantford man has been arrested and is facing child pornography charges.
Members of the Brantford Police Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit recently executed two search warrants (March 31, 2025, and April 2, 2025) at separate addresses in Brantford after receiving tips through the National Centre for Missing & Exploited Children. As a result of the investigation, on April 2, 2025, a 55-year-old male from Brantford was arrested and held for a bail hearing. The accused is facing a charge of Accessing Child Pornography, and two counts of Possession of Child Pornography contrary to the Criminal Code.

The Brantford Police Service joined the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Exploitation on the Internet in 2007. The Provincial Strategy is comprised of the OPP Child Exploitation Section and 27 municipal police services. This Project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
The Brantford Police Service supports this strategy and has recognized that images of children and child abuse placed on the internet lead to perpetual victimization.
The online exploitation of children continues to be a challenge for investigators due to its sheer volume, global reaches, and anonymity; however, the Brantford Police Service is committed to ensuring the safety of our community’s children and taking action against online sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children.

The Brantford Police Service is excited to announce the addition of two redesigned, newly wrapped police vehicles featuring the highly visible Battenburg design to support the BPS Core Engagement and Response Team (CERT) in the Downtown.
The Battenburg pattern, widely recognized for its reflective and high-contrast design, is used by police and emergency vehicles worldwide to enhance visibility and public safety. By incorporating this design into our downtown patrol vehicles, the Brantford Police Service aims to increase officer presence, improve community interactions, and ensure a safer environment for all residents and visitors.
"Utilizing this new design is an important step in strengthening our engagement efforts in the downtown core,” said Chief Jason Saunders. "The Battenburg design makes our vehicles more noticeable, which not only improves safety but also reinforces our commitment to being accessible and visible to the public.”
The BPS Core Engagement and Response Team focuses on proactive policing, community partnerships, and public safety initiatives. The updated cruisers will help officers stand out while on patrol, making it easier for community members to approach them with concerns or questions.
The BPS CERT team will continue to be deployed within the City’s Downtown Core as their primary patrol area. CERT also has responsibility for patrolling the plaza at 50 Market Street South, 1100 Clarence Street, and the emerging Entertainment District along Market Street South.
The CERT Team is comprised of a combination of sworn officers and special constables who remain focused on proactive enforcement while also addressing offences and unwanted behaviour within the Downtown Core. The efforts of the BPS CERT team enhance the ability of our front-line patrol officers to attend to the safety of citizens community wide.
The Brantford Police Service invites the public to look out for the newly designed cruisers and engage with officers and Special Constables when they see them on patrol.

Low-Speed Vehicles; Not Legal for use in Brantford
The Brantford police are issuing an advisory to businesses and residents of Brantford after receiving multiple inquiries regarding the use of low-speed vehicles within the City of Brantford.
What is a low-speed vehicle?
A low-speed vehicle is an electric, four-wheeled vehicle that is smaller and lighter than a regular car. Low-speed vehicles have a maximum speed of 40 kilometres per hour. While low-speed vehicles have similar features to a car (seat belts, a steering wheel, pedals, and speedometer), they have fewer safety features and do not meet the same safety standards.
The Province of Ontario launched a 10-year pilot program in 2017, which allows low-speed vehicles that meet certain requirements to be used on roads in Ontario with a maximum speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour. Municipalities must pass by-laws to allow low-speed vehicles on roads. As the City of Brantford currently does not have a bylaw in place, these vehicles are not legal for use within the City of Brantford.
The Brantford Police Service has become aware that some retailers are selling these vehicles to people looking to purchase a mobility scooter. However, they cannot legally be used on roads within the City of Brantford.
What will happen if stopped by police for using a low-speed vehicle in Brantford??
You could face fines and other penalties if you drive a low-speed vehicle (LSV) where it's not permitted.
- Fines: You could face fines for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, the required equipment, or a permit
- By-law offences: You could face by-law offences
- Criminal Code consequences: You could face serious consequences if you're impaired by drugs or alcohol
- Other consequences: Your vehicle could be towed.
The image below shows an example of a low-speed vehicle.

Increase of Counterfeit Money circulating in Brantford

RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Increase of Counterfeit Money circulating in Brantford
February 23, 2025
The Brantford Police are issuing an advisory to businesses
and residents of Brantford after receiving multiple reports of counterfeit
money circling around the city.
In the month of February 2025 Brantford Police have received
11 reports of counterfeit Canadian bills used at various businesses.
Most of the incidents have involved Canadian bills of
$100.00 and $50.00.
Similar serial numbers on the $100.00 bills appear to have
been circulating across other jurisdictions in Canada. Common serial numbers on
the $100.00 bill are, GRJ6710018, GRJ6710019, GRJ6710020, GRJ6710020,
GRJ6710021, and GRJ6710022.
The counterfeit bills seen in circulation have a holographic
window strip on the bill with the word, "Prop Money”.
Image: No Details
Some of these bills have other obvious signs with discolouration
and damage to them that causes the colouring to peel off easily.
Tips to identify counterfeit money:
- Check the serial number on multiple of the same
value of bills as each bill has its own serial number and no bill shall have
the same.
- The word "Prop Money” should not be on any legitimate
Canadian currency.
- Check the colouring of the bills and the quality
as genuine bills have a finish that will not scrape off
- Check the feel of the bills as there should be
raised ink along certain areas of each bill
BPS want residents and businesses to be aware of the circulation
of these counterfeit bills and to check for any signs of counterfeit with bills
they might have in their possession.
Anyone who suspects they have received a counterfeit bill or
have one in their possession are encouraged not to accept it and to contact
police and make a report.
Individuals who wish to provide information anonymously are
asked to contact the Brant-Brantford Crime Stoppers at 519-750-8477 or
1-800-222-8477. Alternatively, a web tip may be submitted at: https://www.crimestoppersbb.com/submit-a-tip/
