With a population of over 100,000, Brantford is a growing community in southwestern Ontario just west of the golden Horseshoe.  The City takes its name after Joseph Brant, an important Mohawk Chief, whose descendants and other First Nations citizens, live within the City and nearby on the Reserve of Six Nations of the Grand River, 20 kilometers from Brantford.  Brantford is proud of the educational institutions who have established campuses in the City, Wilfred Laurier University, Conestoga College, Mohawk College, all contributing to a vibrant and skilled community.

The Brantford Police Service’s Board has commenced the search for a Chief who will build on the reputation for innovative leadership and community engagement for which the Service is recognized.

Chief of Police

The new Chief will bring to the role a distinguished track record as a seasoned police executive, known for working in partnership with the community, for an innovative, business-oriented approach to the delivery of police services – and above all for a commitment to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.  As Chief, you will provide hands-on leadership and guidance to a service of over 300 members – including 202 sworn officers – that is committed to continually evaluating the needs of the community; seeking out those who support the efforts of community safety and exploring innovative methods of addressing issues related to crime and disorder. You will be an engaged and visible member of the Brantford community, working with the Board, Council, community organizations and neighbouring police organizations including the Ontario Provincial Police Service and Six Nations Police Service, to address the challenges facing this growing community. Experience within a leadership role in a modern, progressive police service, with a commitment to best practices in financial management and human resources will be essential for success.  Above all, you will be an enthusiastic and trusted leader who inspires accountability as the Service proactively embraces the opportunities in the coming years.
