The Brantford Police Service Honour Guard

The Brantford Police Service Honour Guard was formed in 2012 by Former Chief Geoff Nelson, who was serving as Deputy Chief at the time. At inception, the Brantford Police Service consisted of 18 members. The BPS Honour Guard is currently comprised of 15 members of the Brantford Police Service (BPS). The members of the Guard volunteer their time at the various functions throughout the year.

The formation of the Guard was authorized by Chief Jeffrey Kellner and approved by the Police Services Board.

The primary role of the Guard is to represent the Brantford Police Service at the Ontario and Canadian Police Memorials, Remembrance Day ceremonies, funerals of officers killed in the line of duty, and to pay respect at the visitations and funerals of both retired and present day members.

The Honour Guard are active members in the Canadian Association of Police and Peace Officers Ceremonial Units as well as the Ontario Association of Regimental Sergeant Majors.

The Honour Guard assists the Service at award ceremonies and important public events as well as any function as directed by the Chief of Police.

Many of the members of the Guard have been with the unit since its inception. The Service is well represented with a cross section of members of BPS; senior officers, staff sergeants, sergeants, detectives, constables, civilian members and auxiliary officers are all represented in the Guard.
